Billing and Insurance Questions

Back to patient resources

If you have insurance coverage, our business office will assist in filing claims for you and answer any questions you may have. Please bring your insurance card whenever you come to CKMC to ensure accuracy in the filing of your claim. Many of our patients' insurance carriers require pre-certification to authorize admission. Without this authorization, some benefits may be subject to payment reduction.

If your insurance company requests the use of their own forms, we ask that you obtain them from your employer or insurance agent prior to admission or immediately thereafter. Hospital insurance plans do not normally provide full coverage of your hospital bill. You are expected to pay any difference between your coverage and your estimated bill, such as deductible and co-pay, at the time services are rendered. If the amount due is more than you can pay at the time, we have several payment options. We would appreciate your assistance in speaking with one of our financial counselors before your admission. This will provide you with one less concern during your hospital stay.

If you have no insurance coverage or if your insurance does not cover the service your doctor ordered, payment is expected in full at the time services are rendered.

If you need financial assistance, as an extension of our mission, we have developed a special care fund to ensure uninsured patients are not denied access to quality health care.

Our financial counselors will assist you with making payment arrangements for your hospital bill, or applying for our special care fund. If you wish to talk to a financial counselor, please call (620) 786-6594 or ext. 6594 if you are in-house.
