A Central Kansas Medical Center surgeon has been settling into her new office space the last few weeks and continues to welcome new patients.
Drs. Thomas Wilder and Tatiana Kovtoun begin new partnership.
Tatiana Kovtoun, M.D., moved from her previous location on CKMC’s first floor and is now sharing offices with Thomas Wilder, M.D., FACS, at 3520 Lakin. The two surgeons have formed a partnership called Central Kansas Surgical Care. “It is gratifying to be in this new partnership with Dr. Wilder,” Dr. Kovtoun said. “My practice has grown and his experience is a valuable resource. We confer with one another and, in some cases, we work together in the operating room.” The general-surgery practice offers a wide variety of procedures for gallbladder, appendix and breast conditions; bowel resections; and colonoscopies and endoscopies for screenings and diagnostics. “We perform any type of general surgery,” Dr. Kovtoun said. “If a patient needs more intensive treatment, we don’t hesitate to arrange a transfer to the appropriate facility.” Dr. Kovtoun opened her practice at CKMC in August 2008. “From the outset, CKMC seemed like a good fit for me,” Dr. Kovtoun said. “Hospital employees and people in the community welcomed me and made me feel at home. “I also noticed right away that everyone at CKMC is very professional, very focused,” she added. “This is a progressive hospital that is always looking for new ways to expand services, facilities and equipment to stay current with patients’ needs. I really enjoy working here.” Doctors in Great Bend and surrounding communities refer patients to Drs. Kovtoun and Wilder. Sharon Lind, CKMC president and chief executive officer, said Central Kansas Surgical Care represents a great team. “Patients of these two highly qualified, board-certified surgeons can be assured of professionalism and compassion,” Lind said. “The entire staff at Central Kansas Surgical Care understands that inpatients and outpatients are facing a difficult time. “This great team will care for patients each step of the way - from diagnosis through post-operative treatment,” Lind added. “CKMC is fortunate to have this caliber of surgeons on our staff.” Dr. Kovtoun completed her general-surgery residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. She earned her doctor of medicine degree in 2003 through the MD Program in International Health and Medicine in collaboration with Columbia University Health Sciences in New York. Dr. Wilder has been on CKMC’s medical staff since 2001. He earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and performed his residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. |
