New members join CKMC board « Back to News
Three long-time Great Bend area residents recently accepted positions on the Central Kansas Medical Center Board of Directors.

Bob Dema

Kathi Armatys

Jane Bemis

Bob Dema, Kathi Armatys and Jane Bemis bring a wide range of expertise and insight to the hospital board, Chairman Ron Vratil said.

“Each of these new members brings a special perspective to our professional board,” Vratil said. “We are grateful that all three are expected to serve CKMC well into the future.”

Vratil noted the particular talents of each new member:

Dema brings management expertise from his many years as chief executive officer of CPI Qualified Plan Consultants.

Armatys has served on several public boards in the community and is well versed in board activities.

And Bemis currently serves on the CKMC Ethics Committee and is, therefore, already knowledgeable about hospital activities.

“Our board meets monthly and is involved in a variety of hospital issues,” Vratil said. “To name a few, we are involved in long-term strategic planning, financial reviews, physician-credentialing approvals, medical and physician contract reviews and approvals, and quality and ethical reviews.

“The board oversees CKMC operations through established corporate policies and regulations, with the guidance of a most competent administrative team,” the chairman added.

Currently, CKMC has 10 active board members. New members are selected by the recommendations of those currently serving and hospital administrators. A committee interviews potential members and successful candidates are presented to the full board for review and approval, Vratil said.

Members usually serve three-year terms, with a maximum of three terms.

“We are so fortunate that these new members are sharing their talents with CKMC,” Vratil noted. “They will play active roles in the long-term success of our faith-based, non-profit hospital that is dedicated to serving all people in the community.

“CKMC provides high-quality care to everyone, with or without an insurance card,” Vratil added. “With our population’s diversity and our rural heritage, it is critical that our community is served by an entity such as CKMC.”
