The new Emergency Room medical director at Central Kansas Medical Center is a native Kansan who brings many years of experience to his position.

Dr. Greg Faimon
Greg Faimon, M.D., has specialized in emergency medicine for seven years and also is board certified in family practice. He is one of five Kansas doctors who share ER responsibilities at CKMC. “Having a small group like this has several advantages,” said Dr. Faimon, a Burlingame native. “First, we are familiar with many of our patients, which results in improved care. “And the physicians in town are familiar with us and we communicate easily with them,” he continued. “In addition, the nursing staff knows each of us well, which might not be the case in a larger group.” The other ER doctors are John Whitehead, D.O., Wichita; Kim Janzen, M.D., McPherson; Tracy Tucker, M.D., Emporia; and Wolf Miggiani, M.D., of the Hutchinson area. Each is employed by CKMC and averages six 24-hour shifts per month. “When the opportunity to become CKMC employees recently presented itself, we quickly agreed, “ Dr. Faimon said. “We have been here for several years and we wanted to maintain our group; we work well together. “The CKMC administration has been good to us, and all of us enjoy the people in the Great Bend-area community,” he added. When Dr. Faimon is not in Great Bend, he works in the ER at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita. The other physicians also have other places of employment. “I have worked at several ERs in the state,” Dr. Faimon commented. “I can say that everyone on the nursing staff here is top-notch and extremely competent. They are well liked and respected by patients and are in nursing for the right reasons – compassion and caring.” CKMC’s ER is not only vital to individual patients but to the community as a whole, Dr. Faimon said. In many cases, he noted, the promptness of care can make a difference in the outcome. “We are very aware of the many choices in healthcare today,” the ER director said. “But we want to let everyone know we are an experienced and competent group. “We are very confident in our abilities to handle all of the many situations that present themselves in the ER,” he added. “We are equipped to handle any situation and will do everything we can to ensure a good experience.” Dr. Faimon is a 1996 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He was a resident at Wesley Family Practice in Wichita. |
